Seasons and Weather
There are four seasons in the year: winter, spring, summer and autumn. Each of them lasts three months.
In Ukraine winter is usually a cold season. It Often snows, the rivers are frozen. The most unpleasant thing about winter is that the sun sets early and rises late – especially in December and January. These days are short, the sky is often grey, nature is sleeping and sometimes it gets rather boring.
But at the end of March the weather gets gradually milder. The sun shines more brightly. The days become longer. The snow begins melting. Spring comes and nature awakens after a long sleep of winter. All kinds of plants and flowers come out. The birds return from the South and build their nests. The farmers begin the sowing campaign. Everything around is full of life and joy. Spring is followed by summer. The weather gets still warmer and sometimes it is very hot. The sky is blue and cloudless. But sometimes there are storms with thunder and lightning. The gardens are gay with flowers all summer months. In summer people spend much time in the open air. They find time to go to the forest, to swim in the river, to sunbathe.
Autumn comes in September. Early autumn is still the harvest time, the time when the fruit and vegetables become ripe. It is also a very beautiful time of the year, when the weather is still warm and the leaves change their colour from green to yellow.
But towards the end of October the weather gets colder and colder. There’s much rain and fog. Leaves fall from trees and cover the ground. Birds fly away to warm countries. Low and heavy clouds hang in the sky. The landscape becomes rather dull. Nature slowly falls asleep for winter.
In fact, every season has its fine days and is pleasant in its own way. And it is now difficult to see this beauty.

Є чотири пори року: зима, весна, літо і осніь. Кожна з них триває три місяці.
В Україні зима звичайно холодна пора року. Часто йде сніг, ріки замерзають. Найнеприємніше взимку те, що сонце сідає рано і пізно встає, особливо у грудні та січні. Дні короткі, небо часто буває сірим, природа спить, й інколи це дуже набридає.
Але під кінець березня погода поступово пом’якшується. Сонце сяє яскравіше. Дні стають довшими. Сніг починає танути. Приходить весна і природа прокидається після довгого зимового сну. Починають розпускатися всі рослини і квіти. Птахи повертаються з півдня і в’ють гнізда. Селяни починають сівбу. Все навкруги повне життя і радості.
За весною слідує літо. Погода стає все теплішою й інколи буває дуже спекотно. Небо – блактине й безхмарне. Але інколи бувають грози з громом і блискавками. Сади рясніють квітами протягом всіх літніх місяців. Люди проводять багато часу на свіжому повітрі. Вони знаходять час піти в ліс, поплавати в річці, позасмагати.
У вересні приходить осінь. Рання осінь – час збору врожаю, час, коли достигають овочі та фрукти. Це також прекранса пора року, коли погода все ще тепла, а листя жовтіє.
Але під кінець жовтня погода стає все холоднішою і холоднішою. Часті дощі й тумани. Листя падає з дерев і вкриває землю. Птахи відлітають в теплі краї. В небі висять низькі й важкі хмари. Пейзаж стає досить нудний. Ближче до зими природа повільно впадає в сплячку.
В дійсності у кожної пори року є хороші дні, і кожна прекрасна по-своєму. І побачити цю красу неважко.
